女性的 soccer still unbeaten after miracle finish in Hartford

When the 三一 College (Hartford, 连接icut) women’s soccer team scored in the 83rd minute to take a 2-1 lead on their home field this Sunday, it looked like the 3-0-1 Skidmore women’s team might suffer their first 损失 of the season.

Happily, there’s no quit in these Thoroughbreds, ranked third in Region III in a United Coaches poll. 初级 Madison Hallet ’26 (Burlington, 连接icut) equalized 30 seconds later from distance off an assist from sophomore Abby Lewis ’27  (East Greenwich, Rhode Island) and in the 87th minute, senior Ella Stone ’25 (Winchester, Massachusetts) completed the improbable 3-2 comeback converting a penalty kick after being fouled in the box.

It was Stone’s fourth goal of the weekend (she had a hat trick the day before at Eastern 连接icut State in a 3-1 win) and second consecutive game-winner, which led to her being named Liberty League Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week. After four games, Stone has five goals and an assist, just one fewer goal than all of last year.

In the Eastern 连接icut victory, all three Skidmore goalkeepers made an appearance, with first-year player Sophia Sayers ’28 (Sandown, New Hampshire) recording her first career save in her collegiate debut.

女性的 volleyball earns first victory

In more good news, Skidmore’s women's volleyball team (1-6) swept Plattsburgh State (25-15, 25-9, 25-20) Saturday morning for its first win of the year and gave SUNYAC champion Cortland all they could handle that afternoon in the final match of the Skidmore Classic (25-13, 25-23, 25-20). On day one, the Thoroughbreds fell to Brandeis University in straight sets.

Sophomore Madison Manning ’27 made the All-Tournament Team, finishing the weekend with 20 kills (2.22/set), 14 digs, two assists, and two aces. The outside hitter/middle blocker from Lombard, Illinois, was also named to the Liberty League Women's Volleyball Honor Roll.

女性的 field hockey falls to 2-2

Playing in tough rainy conditions on Saturday afternoon at Wagner Park, the 2-2 Skidmore field hockey team fell behind early and couldn't overcome an efficient SUNY Geneseo attack, ultimately losing 5-2. The Knights are ranked 20th in the Penn Monto NFHCA National Coaches Poll.

The Skidmore tallies came from senior Beth Yorns ’25 (Long Meadow, Massachusetts) who converted a shot in the first period from the far left off an assist from senior Kayla Hassett ’25 (Massapequa, N.Y.), and senior CC Wetter ’25 (Southampton, New York) who found the back of the net off an assist from junior Abby Ezickson ’26 (Washington, D.C.)

Men’s soccer grinds out a tie and suffers a close 损失

With two home games at Wachenheim Field, the 0-1-2 men’s soccer team came into the weekend looking for the first win of Coach Brad Campion’s Skidmore tenure.

Tied 1-1 in Saturday’s opener against SUNY Geneseo, thanks to a first-half strike from sophomore Colin Goodhines ’27  (Long Meadow, Massachusetts), the Thoroughbreds pressed the Knights over the final 20 minutes, posting five of the game's final seven shots, but they couldn’t break 通过.

Will Devall ’26 makes a save.

Will Devall ‘26 registered nine saves over the weekend and earned Liberty League Men's Soccer Honor Roll accolades.

初级 Dillon Nelson ’26 (Springfield, New Jersey) had the assist against Geneseo, his first career point, and also helped set up the opportunity that led to an unassisted goal by senior Hyungbin Kim ’25 (Lexington, Massachusetts) Sunday against Worcester Polytechnic Institute — a 2-1 损失 for the Thoroughbreds.

Statistically, play was even. Skidmore finished with 16 shots, six on target, while the undefeated Engineers, ranked No. 1 in the United Coaches Region II poll, took 15 shots and put six on frame.

Nelson received Liberty League Men's Soccer Honor Roll accolades, as did junior goalie Will Devall ’26 (Shoreham-Wading River, New York), who registered nine saves over the weekend and stood tall in keeping the Thoroughbreds in both contests, including a point-blank stop against Geneseo in the 84th minute.
